Manny Lugo

Artist

Manny Lugo is a self-taught artist from Brooklyn NY who started drawing at the age of 8 years old. Starting off with dot-to-dot coloring books and eventually not needing the guidance and adding his own detail to the pages, Lugo Gradually began improving his artistic skills which by junior high school was already doing commissioned work for not only his fellow classmates but also for his teachers.

Meddling in NYC graffiti in the 1980s and early 90s (Idolizing the likes of "Seen" "Dondi" "Zephyr" "Futura 2000" "LEE Quinones" "Cope 2" "IZ the Wiz" "Crash" "Fab five Freddy" "Crime" "Tracy 168" "Lady pink" Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat (SAMO) and actually meeting several of them at galleries Lugo soon came to realize there was a much better future in commercial art. Turning to Canvases, detailed graphite drawings and digital art as the new medium in 1995, to the present day Lugo continues his passion to draw despite his talents in other areas and holds his artwork very dear. His belief of original work remains intact and stays with his words "Original is only ONE" and with that belief has kept his work continuous.
